I had the privilege of moderating a panel at RAISE Summit 2026 in Paris on why open source is the engine of AI innovation. The panel featured Ion Stoica, Thomas Wolf, Dillon Rolnick, Eiso Kant, and Robin Rombach — a lively, opinionated group of builders and researchers working at the center of the open-source AI movement.
We covered the shift from research to reality, the role of open weights and open data, and why openness is becoming the default for the next wave of AI. It was a spicy and fun conversation.
